Overview
"Barbar (Strong Golden Ale, 33cl, 8.0%abv)
Belgian golden ale spiced with honey. Has a dry tangy finish and fizz quite unlike other honey beers, which are normally sweeter and cloying.
Bush Beer (Strong Golden Ale, 25cl, 12.0%abv)
The strongest of the Belgian beers. A true strong ale, copper coloured, malty, and nicely dry. Matured for at least 3 months, this is a superb quality beer, and real dynamite.
Chimay Red (Trappist Ale, 33cl 7.0%abv)
The best known of the Trappist Ales, first brewed in 1861. The Red is a beer to be savoured, dark red and full bodied. Rich fruity aroma. Good with food, particularly game.
Grimbergen Dubbel (Abbey Ale, 33cl, 6.5%abv)
Soft, dark, creamy and richly medium bodied. Sweet, even slightly cloying but cream foam lasts. A mellow delight that is easy to drink.
Hoegaaden Grand Cru (Speciality Ale, 33cl 7.3%abv)
Similar brew to Hoegaarden Wit,but made purely from barley malt, rather than a mixture of wheat, oats and barley. Aromatic, pale, and quite strong, this noble complex beer will evolve in character for 3 to 4 years if laid down.
Judas (Strong Golden Ale, 33cl, 8.5%abv)
A superb golden ale from the Maes brewery. Clear gold, strong complex flavours with a dry aftertaste. Not too heavy in body and quite lively. Should suit the British palate well. Best served in its own glass.
De Koninck (Belgian Ale, 25cl, 5.0% abv)
Top fermented, malty character with a yeasty fruitiness and Saaz hoppiness. Big finish! Antwerp's local beer brewed by direct flame in a cast iron kettle
Dentergems (Wheat Beer, 25cl, 5.0% abv)
Rose petal perfumey taste and aroma, less herbal and citrus flavoured than some other wheat beers. Bottle conditioned.
Duvel (Strong Golden Ale, 33cl, 8.5% abv)
Probably the worlds greatest beer. Complex brewing and blending processes produce this brilliant brew. Looks like a lager, very lively, but is a top fermented, malty hoppy beer ... nice and dry. Chill it!
Hommelbier (Belgian Ale, 33cl, 7.5%abv)
Bursting with flavour. Strong on hops, like a top quality English ale.Bottle conditioned beer from the centre of the hop growing area of Belgium.
Leffe Blonde (Abbey Ale, 33cl, 6.5%abv)
A classic strong golden yellow beer in the Abbey style
Leffe Bruin (Abbey Ale, 33cl, 6.5%abv)
Rich smokey aroma. A very dark brown ale. Strong sweet taste with hints of burnt malt. Full bodied. Leaves a pronounced bitter aftertaste. Another classic from Leffe.
Palm (Belgian Ale, 33cl, 5.0% abv)
The top selling standard ale in Belgium, produced by the family Palm brewery, first established in 1747. A nice light refreshing beer. Malty and fruity with a tart finish.
Maes Pils (Pilsner, 25cl, 5.0%abv)
Light, soft, dry pilsener style beer with a flowery ""Riesling"" bouquet
Morte Subite Gueuze (Lambic, 25cl, 4.5% abv)
Meaning ""sudden death"" but these lambics are far from strong. Rather they are sparkly refreshing aperitifs. No fruit is added to this so it is much drier in character. Some would say ""sour""
Timmermans Kriek (Fruit Beer, 25cl, 4.5%abv)
Effervescent as champagne with a winey fruity nose. Delicious cherry, almond, and elderflower notes. Hints of tart citrus produce a lovely balanced dry drink. Cries out for a summer party.
Rodenbach Ordinare (Sour Red, 25cl, 5.0%abv)
One of the worlds' most distinctive beers, aged in oak casks to give an intense sharpness. Definitely one for the connoisseur.
Wilson Stout (Speciality Ale, 25cl, 5.2%abv)
Very rare Belgian Stout. Similar to an old fashioned sweet stout.
Kwak (Speciality Ale, 33cl, 8.0%abv)
Served in a strange glass with no base (like a small yard of ale glass). This is a top fermented garnet coloured brew. Notable for a liquorice aroma and taste.
Liefmans Frambozen (Fruit Beer, 37.5cl, 4.5%abv)
Chewy and tart. A most incredible beer from the famous Liefmans brewery. A beautifully refreshing drink with strong raspberry flavour. Serve cool.
Maresdsous 8 (Abbey Ale, 33cl 8.0%abv)
Bottle conditioned Abbey ale. Sweet with deep tawny colour
Trappiste Rochefort 10 (Trappist Ale, 33cl, 11.3%abv)
Very strong Trappist Ale, with a dense head and deep claret colour, full body. Spicy, earthy palate, this beer is a natural accompaniment with the darkest of Belgian chocolate.
Westmalle Triple (Trappist Ale, 33cl, 9.0%abv)
A world famous beer. The Westmalle Tripel has a thick white head, strong herbal aroma and a delectate hop taste. Bottle fermented and quite potent. Goes well with asparagus.
